We found The Langley via the website and were hugely impressed with the scale of the venue and the options it gave us. We were going to able to have our civil registry wedding, Indian wedding and the reception all on the same day! Before the big day itself we had an initial meeting and then we organised a food tasting with The Langley’s catering team, which we had at The Langley too - which allowed us a 2nd chance to look at the venue – which still looked excellent! The food tasting was on a weekday after work which was what we wanted so we could spend the weekends doing more fun things! We were also really happy that we had a wedding planner, Neha, looking after us. She was amazing to deal with, nothing seemed too much of a bother for her and she came up with some great ideas too! As we tried the dishes that we had selected at the initial meeting the wedding planner took us through out options and we talked about everything: table centre pieces, mandaps, welcome drinks, table covers, chair covers, time tables – everything. She was brilliant and covered everything off with us.
On the actual day we walked into the venue and were amazed. We wanted pink lilies and that was matched with red table centre pieces and the lights. We started the day with a champagne reception on the roof terrace which was nice. It was a shame that it wasn’t hot and sunny but it was bright and dry. We were able to take some really nice photos of our family and friends in great light before the registry, say hello and have a quick chat. It was a great relaxed and easy way to start the day.
Neha was our wedding planner and was there on the day and she made sure that we were all running on time. She ushered us to a room for us and our 80 or so guests from the roof terrace for the registry. The registry went well and our guests were treated to mocktails while we changed and took 10 mins to get some quiet in the changing rooms. When we came out our guests were making their way in and the Langley staff were removing the temporary room where we just got married and putting out some more seats for the Indian wedding. We were only expecting 230 odd people for the Indian wedding and reception and the Langley’s smallest suite was easily big enough for everyone. The mandap looked great and the Indian ceremony went well – thankfully the priest listened to our requests and kept the whole thing under 1 hour.
While we were having our photos being taken and more guests were arriving for the reception the food was starting to get served. We opted for table service rather than a buffet. It was a little more expensive but we figured it would also make the whole day more special. The food came out and it was incredible. The chilli panear – AMAZING!! But the rest of the food we had was Indian vegetarian but also very tasty. We got a lot of great comments from everyone about the food and service. It was served to the tables quickly and hot which we were worried about but needn’t have been. The speeches came and went and the DJ actually did a good job of MC’ing the speeches – really added to the already great atmosphere. The DJ carried on his good work by playing for 3 hours and getting everyone on their feet.
It was a shame that the day had to end but after 12 hours on site in the actual event I can honestly say that everything went perfectly. We weren’t hassled at all the whole day long. Everything went smoothly as far as we and our guests were concerned – in fact better than we expected. I’d whole heartedly recommend The Langley and their caterers to anyone. Although we had an Indian wedding I’m certain that they’d make your special day whatever it is, just as amazing.
